Blackbird Counseling Offers the Following Therapy Services

Perinatal Mental Health Counseling

As a Perinatal Mental Health Specialist, I support all child-bearing persons and their partners on the path through parenthood.

The term "Perinatal Mental Health" describes a person's psychological well-being from the very beginning stages of conception to the rapid and unpredictable changes in the postpartum era (Dads included!). This is such a unique and often challenging transition in life that requires unbiased support. It is important to remember: You are not alone. You are not to blame. With help, you will be well.

Trauma- Therapy

Trauma-Informed Counseling

The thought of confronting trauma can feel incredibly overwhelming at times. Trauma profoundly impacts our brains and influences both the big and small decisions we make in life. It can be scary departing from the childhood that shaped us, yet sometimes we need to un-learn the lessons we have been taught in order to end generational trauma.

At a time when trauma leaves us feeling completely out of control, working through it in a safe, professional, nurturing environment can help you gain back some of what the trauma had originally taken from you.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy & Person-Centered Therapy

Many find relief in simply having an unbiased ear to talk to, which is why the therapeutic relationship is instrumental in therapeutic outcome. A therapist is not just a person to vent to, but rather a licensed professional trained in empathic understanding, active listening, and effective implementation of tools and techniques. Every effort is made to ensure the success of treatment.

My typical approach follows the principles of cognitive behavioral therapy and person-centered therapy to inform treatment and produce change. This includes examination and restructuring of current thought processes and learned behaviors to strengthen insight and coping strategies, as well as encourage self-discovery and practical solutions. These approaches are evidence-based and clinically proven to be effective for common mental health disorders.
